Elements

When designing a document, you can choose from several elements to suit your needs. Each element includes configurable settings that control its content, appearance, and position.

1. Course

Display information about the course.

  • Element ID: Copy the element ID and place it inside double curly braces, such as {{elementid}}, to use its value in a Custom Text element.
  • Show Course As: Select the information to display:
    • Course name
    • Course short name
    • Course ID number
  • Typography: Choose the font, font size, colour, and text alignment. Available fonts are Arial, Helvetica, Georgia, Times New Roman, Courier New, Verdana, and Tahoma. The default font size is 16.
  • Dimensions: The width and height adjust automatically to the text and font.
  • Position: Enter the left and top positions in millimetres (mm). The right and bottom values adjust automatically.
  • Centre Horizontally: Centre the element horizontally within the document.
  • Keyboard Controls: Select the element and use the arrow keys to move it.
  • Delete Element: Click Delete Element or press the Delete key to remove it.

2. Date

Display a date associated with the document or course.

  • Date Source: Choose one of the following:
    • Issue date
    • Course start date
    • Course end date
    • Custom date
    • Expiry date
  • Custom Date: Selecting Custom Date displays an additional field where you can enter the date.
  • Expiry Date: Selecting Expiry Date displays an Expires After setting. Choose one year, two years, three years, or a custom expiry date.
  • Date Format: Choose how the date appears:
    • December 31, 2026
    • 31 December 2026
    • 12/31/2026
    • 31/12/2026
    • 2026-12-31
  • Typography: Choose the font, font size, colour, and text alignment. The width and height adjust automatically to the text and font.
  • Position: Enter the left and top positions in millimetres (mm). The right and bottom values adjust automatically. Use Centre Horizontally to centre the element.
  • Keyboard Controls: Use the arrow keys to move the selected element, hold Shift for larger steps, or press Delete to remove it.

3. Grade

Display a grade from a selected assignment or quiz.

  • Grade Source: Select the assignment or quiz from which to retrieve the grade.
  • Typography: Choose the font, font size, colour, and text alignment. The width and height adjust automatically to the text and font.
  • Position: Enter the left and top positions in millimetres (mm). The right and bottom values adjust automatically. Use Centre Horizontally to centre the element.
  • Keyboard Controls: Use the arrow keys to move the selected element, hold Shift for larger steps, or press Delete to remove it.

4. Grade Table

Display grades from assignments and quizzes within the same category as the document. This element is useful for creating a transcript.

  • Mark Display: Choose one of the following:
    • Mark and maximum mark
    • Mark only
  • Table Rows: Add a row for each assignment or quiz you want to include. You can rename each assignment or quiz for display in the table.
  • Additional Columns: Add columns containing static text and enter the content for each row.
  • Column Width: Adjust the width of each column.
  • Typography: Choose the font, font size, colour, and text alignment.
  • Position: Enter the left and top positions in millimetres (mm). The right and bottom values adjust automatically. Use Centre Horizontally to centre the element.
  • Keyboard Controls: Use the arrow keys to move the selected element, hold Shift for larger steps, or press Delete to remove it.

5. QR Code

Add a QR code that links to the course page or a custom URL.

  • Target: Choose one of the following:
    • Course page
    • Custom page URL
  • Custom Page URL: Enter the destination URL when this option is selected.
  • QR Size: Enter the QR code size in millimetres (mm). The default is 35.0 mm.
  • Position: Enter the left and top positions in millimetres (mm). The right and bottom values adjust automatically. Use Centre Horizontally to centre the element.
  • Keyboard Controls: Use the arrow keys to move the selected element, hold Shift for larger steps, or press Delete to remove it.

6. Profile Field

Display information from the user’s profile.

  • Profile Field: Select one of the following:
    • First name
    • Last name
    • Full name
    • First name – phonetic
    • Last name – phonetic
    • Middle name
    • Alternate name
    • Username
    • Email address
    • ID number
    • Institution
    • Department
    • Phone
    • Mobile phone
    • City/town
    • Country
    • Preferred language
    • Timezone
    • Address
    • Description
    • Custom field
  • Typography: Choose the font, font size, colour, and text alignment. The width and height adjust automatically to the text and font.
  • Position: Enter the left and top positions in millimetres (mm). The right and bottom values adjust automatically. Use Centre Horizontally to centre the element.
  • Keyboard Controls: Use the arrow keys to move the selected element, hold Shift for larger steps, or press Delete to remove it.

7. Unique Code

Display the unique code generated by the system.

  • Typography: Choose the font, font size, colour, and text alignment. The width and height adjust automatically to the text and font.
  • Position: Enter the left and top positions in millimetres (mm). The right and bottom values adjust automatically. Use Centre Horizontally to centre the element.
  • Keyboard Controls: Use the arrow keys to move the selected element, hold Shift for larger steps, or press Delete to remove it.

8. Custom Text

Use the rich text editor to add formatted text, static content, and values from other elements.

  • Text Content: Enter and format your content using the rich text editor.
  • Element Values: Copy the ID of the element you want to include and place it inside double curly braces, such as {{elementid}}. Once the reference is added, you can delete the original element from the document design while retaining its value in the Custom Text element.
  • Typography: Choose the font, font size, colour, and text alignment. The width and height adjust automatically to the text and font.
  • Position: Enter the left and top positions in millimetres (mm). The right and bottom values adjust automatically. Use Centre Horizontally to centre the element.
  • Keyboard Controls: Use the arrow keys to move the selected element, hold Shift for larger steps, or press Delete to remove it.

9. Image

Add a custom image to the document.

  • Image: Select the image you want to add.
  • Dimensions: Set the image width and height.
  • Position: Enter the left and top positions in millimetres (mm). The right and bottom values adjust automatically. Use Centre Horizontally to centre the element.
  • Keyboard Controls: Use the arrow keys to move the selected element, hold Shift for larger steps, or press Delete to remove it.

10. HR (Line)

Add a horizontal line to the document.

  • Position: Enter the left and top positions in millimetres (mm). The right and bottom values adjust automatically. Use Centre Horizontally to centre the element.
  • Keyboard Controls: Use the arrow keys to move the selected element, hold Shift for larger steps, or press Delete to remove it.
  • Colour: Choose the colour of the line.
